Sometimes, I am wrong. Just flat out wrong or I have no idea what I am doing. So like most people, when I’m lost, I go to Google Maps. When the usage of affect and effect drifts into a gray or grey area, I hit up my AP Stylebook.
Working in several different programs related to design or editing, I question myself a lot. I wonder if I am a glutton for punishment or if I just actually enjoy learning. It’s probably a bit of both, but it can be challenging territory to navigate on your own.
So like Maps and other points of reference, I use tutorials for figuring the ins and outs of software. I’ve been a subscriber to Lynda.com for awhile now. Their tutorials are pretty extensive and play well. They have some free ones, but if you buy a subscription, it’s worth it. I know there are tons of YouTube tuts and various other freebies online, but when it’s so easy to get lost page after page after page – it’s nice to have a site like Lynda because it has the ground pretty much covered for anything you’d want to know in one place.
